Waiting For You At Gator Trace….
Gator Trace Golf & Country Club, located on the fringes of the Savannahs Preserve with its native vegetation, lakes, ponds and canals, is a beautiful slice of Florida paradise.
You may even see a gator, bald eagle, wild boar, or heron on any given day.
The people working at Gator Trace say that working there is like working with their own family. According to PGA Master Golf Professional and General Manager, Lantie Hughes, “Gator Trace is a true family run golf course and club house. We have been very lucky to have a very talented, dedicated and loyal staff from the kitchen to the dining room to the Pro Shop and grounds keepers.
Lantie is a graduate of the PGA program at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing. In fact, he was the youngest individual to achieve the level of PGA Master Professional in the country. He has worked at the club since before the golf course opened in May of 1986 and was promoted to General Manager in 1991.
The course was designed by the Award-Winning Golf Course Architect Arthur Hills.
“It is not brutally long, but the course is fun and challenging with a water hazard at every hole,” says Hughes. The course meanders through the Gator Trace community and has natural Florida landscape with Oak trees, palmetto bushes, cabbage palms and pine trees all left in their natural location.
The club was originally owned by Jim Erskine and was bought by a consortium of partners including Dave and Rose Keffler in December 2000. While Lantie has remained General Manager, it is Cynthia running the kitchen and dining room. Cynthia has worked at the club since it opened in 1986.
“The restaurant staff follow Cynthia’s lead and she demands and receives excellence on all levels,” says Lantie. Chef Marcos Lopez has been with the club for many years and is assisted by Katie Gryb. The cuisine is extremely versatile and often planned around holidays and special events.
The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. everyday and 8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. are very special and reservations are recommended (772.464.7442). Fridays are very casual with steaks, burgers, wings, etc with Karaoke following dinner. On Saturday evenings with a buffet that may include prime rib and crab legs or shrimp fest or barbeque ribs and honey fried chicken. On the third Saturday of the month the band “Exit Twelve-9” plays. On occasion, the Dining Room is closed on Saturday evenings for private parties.
Cynthia is an amazing event planner and is always eager to help you plan a birthday party, wedding and wedding receptions, charity event, holiday event or any special event. You can reach Cynthia at 772.464.7442
It is not often that you have the opportunity to play an Arthur Hills golf course at an affordable price – Gator Trace Golf and Country Club in Fort Pierce is the place.
